Paper Crafting : Year long projects – mid-year check in

As part of the 20 in 20 class where we are making 20 projects in 2020… I have several projects that are going to span the entire year… some of these honestly, keep falling through the cracks… others I have been more successful in keeping up with!

-Book about me: This is a project that Stacy introduced the class to early in the year (January?) to make an album all about me… well I found a small book to use and printed some photos … but I have not yet gone in and written anything… we’ll see this is one project that continually stays on the “in process” list.

-LightRoom Catalog Cleanup: Rocked Days 1-58 in the 100 day project to clean up the 2000+ photos in my downloads folder in Lr. Suuuuper happy about that… now I’m working on consolidating the misc. photos scattered around the desktop of my computer, they are now all in Lightroom, just need to get them to their folder-homes. Then… tackling the big big photo projects from 2019 The girls last Sports Banquet / Sr Prom / HS Graduation / Grad Party and our GradPresent trip to Alaska. Yeah, lots of photos… good thing I have a business as a Professional Photo Organizer.

-One Little Word: AE project I have been super good this year about keeping up with the monthly prompt and I am very happy about that! Most months it takes less than 2-3 hours to watch the video/read the handout and complete the prompt…usually not on the same day! I don’t know if I’m going to officially participate in 2021 but glad about the project this year. I have posts from January and March up on the blog here.

-Storykit Project: I have been working this idea I have about how to work through the backlog of Ali Edwards StoryKits, you can see more info on them HERE. In addition to the content/themed prompts, the subscription included a small kit of supplies and I also opted to purchase the accompanying stamp set, in the hopes I’d stamp more (cue uproarious laughter). I thought I had written about the whole approach so maybe that should be a separate post… needless to say with 31 kits staring me in the face, there is a lot of content to work on… slow going.

-18/19/20 Project: I have to say with some chagrin that my documenting of 2018, 2019 and 2020 has been not as extensive as I would have liked. I have a framework set now for each year but honestly, it’s been a bit overwhelming of a project. My initial plan was to go monthly and complete a month in each year at a go… but even breaking it down that much seems super overwhelming so I am going back to the drawing board and I’m going to project manage this one out to 15 minute increments…we’ll see how it goes.

I summation…I’m hopeful I can finish out with OneLittleWord and probably get some writing done in the Book About Me, we’ll see how far I get with the other projects! I’ll keep you posted.

Are you working on any year-long projects? As we pass the mid-point of 2020, how are yours going?

  1. You’re doing very well on managing your projects – though I can see finding things to do with all those storykits must feel a bit daunting! If ever there was a year to document one’s life, this might feel like ‘it’, so I hope you’ll feel able to do something in your Book About me :).
