week in the life 2013

…(because I don’t have enough to do)  This week, I’ve been working on / participating in Week in the Life.  This project is an in-depth documentation of one week of your life, spearheaded by the fabulous Ali Edwards.  You can read more about it here on Ali’s blog.

I’ve done 4 out of 7 days so far and still going strong.  Although, I have to admit one of my children is starting to hide when I whip my camera out to take pictures.  I’ll write further about my process in another post (it’s getting laaate here! and time to get to bed) but wanted to post my cover page for Monday here to at least get the ball rolling …

Week in the Life 2013 - Monday

My grand plans of posting my layouts the next day has not worked out so I am opting for focusing on collecting and documenting now and working up the layouts later this week.

I originally was not going to work on this again this year, I’ve done it in 2011 and 2012 and really liked the results but was not up for the time it took to pull it all together.  But I decided to go for it and keep it simple.  Stay tuned and Wish me luck!

Are you working on Week in the Life this year?  Any other big memory keeping projects on the horizon for you?

…we interrupt this photo shoot…

One of my goals for my blog is to post my Project Life layouts for others to see, be inspired by (maybe!!) and to connect with my far-flung family and friends.  I have been pondering how best to organize this on my blog, but in the meantime, I’ve been trying to shoot some of my layouts in preparation for uploading.  In addition to figuring out how I want my blog to “work”, I’ve been experimenting with how best to shoot my layouts…

Fred, the Cat

For those of you who haven’t been to my house, this is Fred.  We adopted him and his sister Ginger in 1996, so he’s getting up there in years.  Ginger passed away earlier this year and since she’s been gone, Fred has been spending a lot more time upstairs with the humans.  For instance, when I’m trying to take photos…

He’s decided that he must at that very specific moment in time…wake up from whatever pile of blankets or clean clothing he’s sleeping on, and come and see what his human is doing.  I think he sees himself as a household supervisor

And of course, the next thing that happens when I say “Fred!  Get out of there…”  Shadow, the dog races upstairs from her nest on the Family Room sofa to see what is going on…

It’s no wonder that the photos have not made it onto my blog yet…but at least photos of the pets have…. small progress??  I guess I”ll have to take what I can get…

good-bye our sweet Ginger girl

Last week, we had to say good-bye to our wonderful lapsitting girl after almost 17 years.  Ginger (and her brother Fred, who is still with us) came home with us a month after we bought our first house and spent the next 17 years sitting on laps, receiving belly rubs, and living a very good and well loved life.  I put together this remembrance of our sweet Ginger girl.

Sweet GingerGirl

Good-bye sweet Ginger, we will miss you very much.

LOAD 0213

Yes, because I am completely insane and don’t have enough projects jumping up and down and calling my name….

I’m participating in a scrapbooking layout-a-day challenge for the month of February.  yep. insane.  This is actually the 4th time (or 5th can’t remember) time I’ve done this and it is a challenge to keep it going for the whole month.  Sometimes life gets in the way and that’s OK…the point is the stories are getting told.

So without further ado…here ar

LOAD213-01-CapeCod2011Day one’s challenge was a layout without writing a story (or “journaling” in scrapbooking parlance).  I’m working on a series of pages about our Cape Cod trip in 2011 (and also 2010) and needed a “cover” page so…voila.  The only words are the Place and Date.

02-The Best DayDay two’s challenge was to create a layout about your perfect day.  Not content to just keep all the fun to myself, I hounded my family for their “perfect” days.  Charlie was awesome (but had to be admonished to keep it clean, it’s a family show after all)  The girls had tons of questions but managed to settle on a few of their most important items.

Both layouts are digital layouts, done completely on the computer and I’ll have them printed out to put in an album.  I also scrapbook as a “paper” scrapper but with doing a layout a day, it’s much quicker to pull something together on my laptop which I can take anywhere (including the cafeteria at Nashoba Valley where I’m waiting for my girls to come rocketing down the slopes any minute).

If you’re interested in learning more about the layout-a-day challenge click here to go to Lain Ehmann’s “Layout-A-Day” site.  It’s fun, challenging whether you follow the suggestions for layouts (or “prompts”) or not and the other “Loadsters” are a really nice community.

Cheers!

project life week 1

This is one of my favorite projects.  Becky Higgins “Project Life”.  I’m starting my third year using this idea to document the everyday moments of the craziness that is the Triggs-Rhuda household.  I will be setting up a page specifically dedicated to my 2013 PL pages but want to show them on my main blog page as well (evidently, only my main blog page posts to facebook etc…)

Each year, Becky releases a new card set or two to use with the divided page protectors to facilitate telling your story.  This year, I’m going to use the “Seafoam” edition…but alas, it has not yet shown up for ordering on Amazon.  One of my memory keeping goals for 2013 is to keep up with my PL pages and post them weekly here on my blog…so here goes…

Week1-original layout

Week One, with place holders for the Seafoam kit which I hope to have next week.  I usually run my weeks Mon-Sun but started with Jan 1 this week…NY Day party, Basketball, surprise in the mail and Hello winter this week!

Thanks for looking!  Are you working on a PL album this year?  If you have been looking for a way to easily and simply document your life and capture your memories, PL might be for you!
