Just in case you were wondering…
The studio assistant is on the job on this dreary rainy Sunday. If you need something slept on and covered with cat hair … Fred is your man
Yes, I’ve been doing more memory keeping. I have notebooks full of ideas and stacks of supplies that I am committed to using up! I was reading Ali Edwards blog last week and she had made a layout detailing the things she loved about her home (instead of always thinking about what could be better….Of which I am completely guilty!!!) I decided to take her challenge and use a hand drawn grid, write out 5+things about my home and making a layout w no photos… Celebrating what we love about this house was definitely in order (2 1/2 yrs later!) AND I found the perfect use for this darling October Afternoon paper I have been hoarding for years! I love how it came out!!
Details… so much fun digging around my stash for goodies to fill up the grid!
Full layout here….I’m still working on my photography skills…bear with me!
And just in case you were wondering….
Yes, it’s Studio Assistant approved…. He has to sit on everything around here!
What projects have you been working on?
Today’s layout is a digi-layout (I’m toggling back and forth between digi and paper lately…have a lot of supplies in each format to work through!) I’m featuring Little Feet Digital Designs April Freebie “Earth Day” created for the PixelScrapper blog hop. This beautiful mini-kit is available FREE from LFDD only through April 31 so get it while it’s hot, and there, and well…free. Click HERE for the link to LFDD blog. Of course, me being me I did not scrap with an “Earth Day” theme…I decided to showcase the photo I took when I brought home our December Share from Co-op, the last one for the season. Little miss you-know-who of course, has to inspect everything.
Enjoy and Hop on over to Little Feet Digital Designs and download this freebie kit before it’s all gone!
Have a great Saturday everyone!!
As occurs on some occasions, I went down the rabbit hole this morning while poking around on my laptop and having that first critical cup of tea. I ended up weeding through old bookmarks and came across the one for Lucky Lab Rescue and of course I clicked on it. Lucky Lab is the organization where we found our dog Shadow, and I was kind of happy to see that they are still around and still saving Labs. It would be lovely if they had to close down because there were no more Labs in danger of euthenasia and responsible pet owners spayed and neutered their pets so only pets that were wanted were out in the world.
I was stopped in my tracks by a piece on the page that talked about black labs being put down at higher rates than yellow or chocolate ones…what?? really??
Look at that face
Seriously how could you not love that dog?
Here is and excerpt from the Lucky Lab Rescue site:
The most popular color of Labs are yellow and chocolate. They tend to get rescued and adopted more often than black labs. Some shelters will automatically euthanize black Labs and some rescue organizations will accept the yellow and chocolate over the black Lab. We at Lucky Labs love our yellows and chocolates, but also feel very committed to rescuing black Labs due to their plight.
“The plight of the black dog refers to the low adoption rate and high euthanization rate of black dogs in shelters. Black dogs are often the last to be adopted from an animal shelter. You may not be aware of how doomed black dogs are when they are brought to the average animal shelter. Black dogs, particularly large black dogs like Labradors or Lab mixes, have a very difficult time getting adopted, and are euthanized at a staggering rate at many animal control facilities throughout the country. The sad truth
is, they are overlooked in favor of lighter colored dogs.”
Oh My word
We love your black lab. Please support your local dog rescue organizations and practice being RESPONSIBLE pet owners!! And don’t worry honey…we are NOT getting another dog…but it is fun to look at the pictures!!
One of my goals for my blog is to post my Project Life layouts for others to see, be inspired by (maybe!!) and to connect with my far-flung family and friends. I have been pondering how best to organize this on my blog, but in the meantime, I’ve been trying to shoot some of my layouts in preparation for uploading. In addition to figuring out how I want my blog to “work”, I’ve been experimenting with how best to shoot my layouts…
And things were moving along except for one 10 lb glitch
Fred, the Cat
For those of you who haven’t been to my house, this is Fred. We adopted him and his sister Ginger in 1996, so he’s getting up there in years. Ginger passed away earlier this year and since she’s been gone, Fred has been spending a lot more time upstairs with the humans. For instance, when I’m trying to take photos…
He’s decided that he must at that very specific moment in time…wake up from whatever pile of blankets or clean clothing he’s sleeping on, and come and see what his human is doing. I think he sees himself as a household supervisor
And of course, the next thing that happens when I say “Fred! Get out of there…” Shadow, the dog races upstairs from her nest on the Family Room sofa to see what is going on…
It’s no wonder that the photos have not made it onto my blog yet…but at least photos of the pets have…. small progress?? I guess I”ll have to take what I can get…
