Creating in the time of Pandemic…

Today is March 28, 2019. A lot has happened since I last posted, the world is spinning at an ever increasing rate it feels like. We are nearing the end of the first week of stay-home-so-you-don’t-infect-people here in Massachusettes. The news gets worse by the day. In the back of my mind, there is a corner that is in constant terror for my little sister who is a nurse in a medical icu unit that has just been turned into a covid unit. I have finally this afternoon put a name to the other feeling I have which is dread.

In an effort to not get sucked down that dark dank hole, I am keeping busy this afternoon scanning a clients slides. Having a yummy lunch of homemade knockoff Panera Autumn Squash soup. My daughter just brought me some yummy fruit smoothie she made and hubby is busy alternating working and doing laundry.

While the scanner is scanning (each batch of 30 takes over an hour), I decided to take a break from making masks to finish up a scrapbook layout that has been hanging around since probably 2014…

I had started a layout with this photo back then, didn’t like it, and there it sat in my unfinished layout folder …which we all know is the digital equivalent to that pile on the corner of the desk. I decided one of my projects for this year is to either finish/ re-work the layouts in that folder or delete them. This photo is from 2001 and seriously, don’t they look like they are conspiring against us?! Very happy to have made a start on a project that is useful and creative when we definitely need useful and creative things around us! The template is from this months Simple Scrapper templates and I think the kit is Just Jaimee’s Storyteller

What are you working on this weekend?

100 Days project … the warm up

OK, it’s really not the warm up…I thought it started today, not tomorrow.  AT ANY rate, I have been doing something creative every day so far in 2018 (I’ve missed one day).  I have however, not been documenting it.  So to add another layer of complexity to my life I am going to be participating in the #The100DayProject for the first time… I will be sharing my daily posts on Instagram, but I have to say probably not posting every day here, because that would be rather redundant BUT maybe several process posts ?  I’m not sure yet.  But for NOW 18-04-02-Halloween-1973-WEBI give you Halloween ca. 1973.  Charlie is in the middle flanked by his sisters.  I’ve been working on a Halloween through the years album.  The plan is to have as many generations as possible and so far I’ve got some layouts done of our girls, Charlie as a kid, and Charlie and I as adults.  I have photos of Charlie’s parents as young marrieds having a halloween party and somewhere there has to be photos of me (because there are so many the odds are in my favor).   So that’s been a fun little project on which to work.  A bit of warm up for the next 100 days.

I’m anticipating that my something creative will continue to be a mix of knitting, sewing, photo editing and scrapbooking.  I’m not sure if gardening will count if it ever finally warms up!  We’ll see how it goes.

Home Made Goodness

In an effort to ATTEMPT to spend my time creating more and consuming less (GoT excepted)… tonight I sat down and instead of scrolling FB endlessly…I made a scrapbook layout (!) gasp.  I know, I know.  We have actually been super busy in a good way this summer so lots going on but not a lot of sharing. In an effort to remedy that, may I present…

yep, Christmas baking layouts in August!  I had bought the cutest baking kit from Pink Reptile Designs and a template kit from Scrapping with Liz at The Lilypad (one of my fave digi-scrapping shops) and tonight was the night to use it.

Last night I spent my evening catching up with my 2016 photos in Lightroom, and I’m thrilled to say that I believe that 2016 is all done, edited, rated and tagged.  That is why I could find these photos about baking…from my “baking” keyword.  I have a lot of memory keeping to work on.  I have realized that I’ve been catching myself thinking 2 more first-days-of-school until the girls go to college, 2 more back-to-school shoppings until the girls go to college … you get the idea.   One layout to make a dent in the memory keeping list!

Once school starts and we are on a more normal schedule, maybe more posting  (?!)  best of intentions…. enjoy!

Printing it out

I got a wonderful package to open BEFORE Christmas… yep, Christmas came early…

prints-close-up

57 layouts that I had printed through Persnickety Prints.  I love their quality and their customer service.  A few times a year, they sell print credits for different sizes so I can print a 12×12 layout for half price.  The credits are perfect because they never expire, they just sit in your account until you are ready to order so…In keeping with my “print it out” mantra, I went into my files and discovered that there were layouts from 2015 that were waiting to be printed (!) no time like the present so I uploaded everything and off they went to the printers.  A week or so later, back came a lovely stack of layouts…and of course there they sat in my studio for two weeks until I finally got a moment to open them…

decprintyourlayouts

Yay for printed out layouts!  I’m so happy with how they all came out.  Now, the next thing?  Getting them all in an album….The thing after that?  Re-organizing my albums by year…because they are all completely random…half a dozen+albums crammed full of randomly filed layouts.  Put it on the to-do list for 2017!

On to more post-Christmas fun!!  Happy Wednesday everyone!

Memory Keeping:: Layout Share

Happy Friday everyone!

A quick departure from December Daily shares for… a Christmas layout!    Because as I look out my window right now, it looks a lot like the photo below…but 40 degrees colder!    Kit and template are from Joy to the World Bundle (buy the bundle, get the templates and the kit yippee!)  by Little Feet Digital Designs.

I wonder what the weather gods will bring for us this year?!  Santa, can we have enough snow to look pretty but not enough to really have to work hard at shoveling?!

Happy weekend crafting!!!
