I am thrilled that I am done with my December Daily project!! My goal was to have all of the digital pages finished by 12/31 and I’m one day and 4 hours early. I’m very happy and can’t wait to see everything printed up! I’ll be printing 6×8 photos from Persnickety Prints, love their quality and their service. Other years I have printed my photos at home on my photo printers but since these pages have such broad swathes of color, I thought I’d send them out.
A few things made this project very workable for me. 1- I stuck to one story a day 2- I stuck to (generally) one photo a day. 3-I took all the photos on my iPhone and edited them in Pic-Tap-Go and uploaded them to dropbox named for each day so they fell into order in the file. Then I could just access them from my desktop when it was time to pull the layout together in Photoshop. I edited 12 photos in one sitting while I was waiting for a dr appointment one day, v. good use of time. 4-I chose three kits and put them in one folder, I sorted everything and put all the papers in a folder, all the elements, templates etc…so when I needed a paper or a template, I didn’t have to hunt through each folder from the designer. about 2/3 of the way through I did purchase another kit that worked in with the colors just because I was starting to feel restrictive and a little repetitive because the kits I was using were quite small. I also had a good chunk of time this past week to work on the project, so that helps immensely!
Days 20-25 !!
…and to all a good night!!
Plowing along with my words and photos today…did a few out of order but still planning on getting this all done by 12/31 ! Days 6&7, pretty simple and clean…
OK, it’s really not the warm up…I thought it started today, not tomorrow. AT ANY rate, I have been doing something creative every day so far in 2018 (I’ve missed one day). I have however, not been documenting it. So to add another layer of complexity to my life I am going to be participating in the #The100DayProject for the first time… I will be sharing my daily posts on Instagram, but I have to say probably not posting every day here, because that would be rather redundant BUT maybe several process posts ? I’m not sure yet. But for NOW I give you Halloween ca. 1973. Charlie is in the middle flanked by his sisters. I’ve been working on a Halloween through the years album. The plan is to have as many generations as possible and so far I’ve got some layouts done of our girls, Charlie as a kid, and Charlie and I as adults. I have photos of Charlie’s parents as young marrieds having a halloween party and somewhere there has to be photos of me (because there are so many the odds are in my favor). So that’s been a fun little project on which to work. A bit of warm up for the next 100 days.
I’m anticipating that my something creative will continue to be a mix of knitting, sewing, photo editing and scrapbooking. I’m not sure if gardening will count if it ever finally warms up! We’ll see how it goes.
In an effort to ATTEMPT to spend my time creating more and consuming less (GoT excepted)… tonight I sat down and instead of scrolling FB endlessly…I made a scrapbook layout (!) gasp. I know, I know. We have actually been super busy in a good way this summer so lots going on but not a lot of sharing. In an effort to remedy that, may I present…
yep, Christmas baking layouts in August! I had bought the cutest baking kit from Pink Reptile Designs and a template kit from Scrapping with Liz at The Lilypad (one of my fave digi-scrapping shops) and tonight was the night to use it.
Last night I spent my evening catching up with my 2016 photos in Lightroom, and I’m thrilled to say that I believe that 2016 is all done, edited, rated and tagged. That is why I could find these photos about baking…from my “baking” keyword. I have a lot of memory keeping to work on. I have realized that I’ve been catching myself thinking 2 more first-days-of-school until the girls go to college, 2 more back-to-school shoppings until the girls go to college … you get the idea. One layout to make a dent in the memory keeping list!
Once school starts and we are on a more normal schedule, maybe more posting (?!) best of intentions…. enjoy!
Happy Friday…again!! Banner morning for making stuff, cleaning up and doing laundry (I guess that’s what happens when you get up at 4:30 am! I’ll be napping soon….) The story of the 6th is the story of an early Christmas present for Charlie !! I’m trying to catch up and keep things simple so here we go….
Double spread today, you get my messy desk and attempts at caffeination as a bonus!
Left side close up…That card was perfect! mixing elements from Ali’s main kit and the Authentique Classic Christmas line… I inked the back of the circle from the 5th green and added paper and a sticker, see through snowflakes from the 5th and made up a card and the santa head from Ali’s shop
Right side close up… Charlie enjoying his early Christmas gift! I used the overlay on top of the photo and changed the color to better coordinate w the layout, added a sticker from Authentique sheet. Journaling on a card I made up from Ali’s 4×6 Templates vol. 3, changed the color to coordinate w the layout, typed up the journaling, printed it out on yardstick I’d trimmed to 4×6 before running thru printer… added sticker tag w some bakers twine… Done!
Here’s how the see-through elements from day 5 worked with the day 6 layout… I think they work together pretty well! OK off to get ready for work and do more laundry! Catching up slowly but surely!
