One Second Everyday

(Except for the chunk this summer where I totally forgot about the app and my children didn’t remind me…)  And most of the videos are clips from videos I sent my girlfriend in Houston !

LOL I have now blogged as much in the first 3 days of 2020 as I did in all of 2019…go me!

And I do have to say… this app is really fun and I have already started my 2020 version! Give it a try!

Some January projects…

Well, we’ve made it 1/12th of the way through the year…doesn’t it sound like a lot when you put it that way?!  The month has been pretty busy as usual and I’ve been at work on several projects over here.

On and off for the last several years, I’ve set an intention for the year through choosing a word as kind of a touchstone of sorts.  I have never been one for resolutions, recognizing many of them never make it past mid-month but a word has been something I could get behind… My words have been:  Prosper, Brave,  Passion (twice) and Complete, and this year

Forward

A few of the years I have participated in Ali Edwards workshop called One Little Word. Ali didn’t come up with the idea of a guiding word but she has developed a year long workshop with monthly prompts to help remind you of your word and to Make It Visible. You can learn more about her take on the project here on her site. I’ve signed on the the fun this year as it’s going to be a big year around here and I’m excited to see what the next season moving FORWARD is going to look like. I am also participating in a year long workshop called Fit which is an offering from Cathy Zielske who keeps it very very real, you can read more about that here. Seriously, sometimes I feel like Cathy and I could be best buds…we have sooooo much in common right now. I am formulating a number of goals around what Fit means, and I find the community around this workshop very helpful and inspiring.

Of course there is documenting off all this involved and this year I’m combining both efforts into one 6×8 album that I am going to just dip in and out of during the month as I work on various prompts and ideas. I’ve finished up my work for January (go me!) so I thought I’d share a very crummy video overview of my book so far… definitely can put learn better videography skills on the list ha ha…just keeping it real!

So for some reason, I can’t embed a video here but if you click on the link above, it will take you to the You Tube Channel where I posted my video… WordPress changed up some things so it’s all about learning the new editor! Thanks for stopping by and let me know what you’re working on!

December Daily 2018-Loose plan & Day 1

Well then… one post every six months seems to be the way we are going lately!  Not that there has been a lack of making…there has just been a lack of posting.  Lots of making getting done and hopefully I can get around to sharing some here soon.

It’s the first day in December and in the memory keeping world that means it’s time to get started on December Daily. December Daily is a memory keeping project brought to life by Ali Edwards, awesome all around person and memory keeper extraordinaire!  I have documented December every year since 2009…tho in truth…last year’s is not complete but I am hoping to correct that this month.  For fun, I’ve gathered all of my past albums together and am keeping them in a basket in the family room for the season.  It is so much fun to go back and look at prior years and see what we were up to.

I wanted to get day one completed and posted before I go out of town for a few days to kick things off.  I am very motivated to complete this year within a few days of the 25th… I have not decided if I’m going until the 31st or just the 25th.  Some years I have and some I haven’t, we’ll have to see.    My plan right now is one 6×8 photo with some embellishment and one 6×8 page of text for each day…we’ll see how that shakes out.  I’m hoping that only having to work with 6×8 for the main part of the album will make it quicker and easier to complete.  I am planning to be almost all digital only adding in tactile elements as I come across them and I’ll probably hold everything until the end and decide what to do with the ephemera then.  I have the kits I’m using and templates all ready to go in one file on my computer so I will not have to go hunting each time I want to make a page…we’ll see how that goes!    So with out further ado…here is day one:

I will be out of town for days 2-6 so I’ll have lots to share later this week.   Happy December everyone!

A few photos into a book…

Well…so this is how  – let’s send Dad a few photos from the girls prom –   turns into… let’s do a whole project…involving other people…just a few days before father’s day!    But it’s done done done.   Is it fancy?  Nope but will he like it?  Yes.  And that is the whole point.

I lucked out and found a Heidi Swapp storyline album on sale at JoAnn’s so I snapped it up as the base for the album.  My sister Tina sent me some photos and I included a few snaps from my sister Nora that I grabbed from a few places online… mixed them all up with my organized and tagged photos from Lightroom (not to be confused with the photos that are still waiting to be organized and tagged) and voila!  A book for Dad.  So excited to get this in the mail to him today but wanted to share a recap for my sisters and friends online.   Here is my not so fabulous completely amateur finished album video!

100 Days project … the warm up

OK, it’s really not the warm up…I thought it started today, not tomorrow.  AT ANY rate, I have been doing something creative every day so far in 2018 (I’ve missed one day).  I have however, not been documenting it.  So to add another layer of complexity to my life I am going to be participating in the #The100DayProject for the first time… I will be sharing my daily posts on Instagram, but I have to say probably not posting every day here, because that would be rather redundant BUT maybe several process posts ?  I’m not sure yet.  But for NOW 18-04-02-Halloween-1973-WEBI give you Halloween ca. 1973.  Charlie is in the middle flanked by his sisters.  I’ve been working on a Halloween through the years album.  The plan is to have as many generations as possible and so far I’ve got some layouts done of our girls, Charlie as a kid, and Charlie and I as adults.  I have photos of Charlie’s parents as young marrieds having a halloween party and somewhere there has to be photos of me (because there are so many the odds are in my favor).   So that’s been a fun little project on which to work.  A bit of warm up for the next 100 days.

I’m anticipating that my something creative will continue to be a mix of knitting, sewing, photo editing and scrapbooking.  I’m not sure if gardening will count if it ever finally warms up!  We’ll see how it goes.
