Hello all my scrappy friends….and even my non-scrappy/not quite so scrappy friends! I am thrilled to have a give away for you !! As I mentioned a few months ago, I was asked to contribute content to the Art + Science of Scrapbooking re-run class at Big Picture Classes. The class is going to start running this month!!!! (insert hand clapping and jumping up and down!!) In honor of this, I have one seat in A+S to give away to one of my blog/facebook/twitter followers!!
Here is the info on the class:
Art + Science of Scrapbooking, 16 brain-boosting challenges to strengthen your creative process taught by Stacy Julian and Jennifer Wilson
Are you a right-brained person who embraces possibility and spontaneity, thrives on imagination, relies on feelings, and thinks in symbols and images? Are you a left-brained person who practices strategy and order, finds comfort in facts, relies on logic, and thinks in words and language?
The answer to both questions is “yes!” In The Art + Science of Scrapbooking, a mind-bending workshop from Stacy Julian and Jennifer Wilson, you’ll learn to harness the creative power of both sides of your brain.
In four illuminating weeks, right-brainer Stacy Julian and left-brainer Jennifer Wilson will help you embrace your natural cognitive strengths. But they’ll also challenge themselves, each other, and YOU to find a new sense of balance and power as you explore the other side of your brain.

I will admit I have been procrastinating about starting work on a Family History Album. Oh, who are we kidding, I’m sure it will end up being a series of albums. Well, I was inspired this evening by one of my fellow Creative Team members who posted a lovely page with photos of her mom as a little girl. I decided it was time to JUST START…so I did.
This is a digital layout of Charlie’s grandpa Dease who was in the Army during WWII. The photos are from a DVD that Charlie’s uncle had made of photos that he’d scanned. Now, I do not know any more details other than Grandpa didn’t go to Europe until after the war ended, I’ll have to get Charlie and his mom to fill in more information, and I’ll go back in and add the info as I get it.
I have no plans for a the structure of a Family History Album Series (other than this project is kicking up toward the top of my to-do pile) and quite frankly, that has kept me from making layouts because I didn’t have a plan. I am trying to “begin with the end in mind” on big projects but now that I’m really starting to think about it… I may just start and see where it all leads!
I managed to eek out another layout this week…working in bits of time between dinner prep and soccer pickup and finishing up in the morning after everyone left for school. I am really fortunate to have a “room of my own” where I can leave a layout or project out on my worktable and let things percolate for awhile… or until my Studio Assistant knocks things onto the ground.
This layout was for a class at BPC called Stashbusters Anonymous and week 1 was layouts to help use up your paper stash. I’m writing up a post now on de-stashing but wanted to share one of the layouts I did featuring chevrons … 1/2″ strips across the whole page…then I realized that my base paper was 12×13 not 12×12…needless to say there will be some trimming of the left side going on but that’s OK, it will only reinforce the asymmetry of the page.
And while I will take a formal portrait of the page when it’s all trimmed and adhered to a piece of card stock (the edges are curling up right now) I really kind of like messy slice of life photos that show some studio details too.
Enjoy and here’s to a beautiful spring weekend ahead and a joyous Easter tomorrow! What projects are you working on over the weekend?
