Memory Keeping:: Layout Share

Happy Friday everyone!

A quick post to share two digi-layouts I’ve been working on and finally finished!

Pumpkin-Carry-WEB-1

I’ve unofficially dubbed this one “Pumpkin Carry”  this photo of my nephew and my daughter makes my heart sing.  Love the two of them together, and they were so little back then!  This layout was a multi-year layout ha ha!  Started in 2015, finished in 2016.

I thought this photo of Saint Chappell from our trip to Paris would be perfect for these papers.  It is an amazing place, like being inside a jewel box!  Wanted to make sure I had really big photo featured for this design and I’m really happy with how it came out.

Thanks for stopping by… More digi layouts in the works, as well as working on December Daily from 2015 and catching up on Project Life albums.  What are you working on this weekend?

December Daily …yes, another project (!)

I’m excited to start working on our 2015 December Daily album, it is finally December (my birthday month for which I wait patiently all year!)  and time to dig in to the project.  This will be the 6th or 7th year I’ve done a December Documentation album and this project is one of my very favorites.  If you’re not familiar with the project, hop on over to Ali Edwards Blog and read about the project and her approach.  Love Ali, Love this project and Love December!!

Let’s begin… I’ll apologize for the crummy photos, I will try and re-shoot everything at another time but it’s pretty much dark here at 3:45 because of the weather so not so good for photos.   My goal for this year is really to tell one story a day.  Some years I’ve told one, some years I’ve had several things going on and some years it’s just been a piece of pretty paper (not that there is anything wrong with that).  I’m really starting my album with Thanksgiving but those pages aren’t done yet, wanted to get a jump on December stories and try and get into a daily rhythm .

DD2015-Day1blog

The story of December 1 was a story of being able to laugh at yourself, being able to not take yourself too seriously, and being gracious in the face of extreme goofiness.

DD2015-Day1ablog

Why you ask?  Because my hubby last night took a photo of me nodding off on the couch and posted it on Facebook (!)  general consensus?  He is in very big trouble.  Everyone thought it was hysterically funny (In my defense, it was well past 10 and it had been a long day with a glass of wine at the end).  So not only was I a good sport about the whole thing, It was the perfect story to document general everyday silliness around here….and I will note that when I asked him to take down the post this morning, he did it right away.

This year I’m using Ali’s December Daily Kit as well as the One Little Bird Mini-Kit for my album, along with other supplies I have around the studio.  Hope you give a project like this a try, it can be as simple or as ornate as you like!  I’ll post more general photos/thoughts/ideas later…time to go pick up the girls from basketball practice…one bonus of December here in New England…sports (at least the ones the girls play) move inside!

What are you working on this December?

Memory Keeping:: Layout Share – random cuteness

Another Day another layout share!  I really really need to start paper scrapping again and get caught up with Project Life, but seeing as how my work table is buried under 3 tons of the girls stuff while we paint Gwen’s room and clean out Lilys…paper will have to wait, digital it is!

Kit for both layouts:  “Land of Nod ” from Little Feet Digital Designs.   I love love love the beautiful colors in this kit, and when I saw the sheep paper…hello layout about lambie!

LFDD-Land-of-Nod-Lambie-Bear-Love-WEB  I’ve been looking around at the older photos on my hard drive and came across these cuties!!  Getting ready to do the big back to school/yesterday today post on Monday because the girls start HIGH SCHOOL !!!! I can’t believe where the time has gone, obviously it’s flown because wasn’t it just yesterday they were these cute little munchkins!?   OMG so cute.  I used another template from my Masterful Scrapbooking Design membership at Get it Scrapped.  Debbie has just re-vamped her site and re-organized what was already a super collection of classes and resources and now it’s even better if that’s possible!! Go and check it out!

To-Sleep-Perchance…WEBand as a bonus, since the girls have left on a camping trip for the weekend, I thought I’d play with some filters in PSE and the beautiful stamp and sparkles in the kit….and what better for a kit with a sleepy theme?  A layout about not sleeping!  I’m hoping its just a phase 😉  But I wanted to do something simple for this layout and I’m really pleased with how it came out!

Yes, I’m still working on Week in the Life but have been so busy, have not had time to post about it! Now off to paint Gwen’s room before she comes home!

Thanks for stopping by… More goodies in the works, what projects are you working on?

Week in the Life – Monday 8/17

I wasn’t going to do a Week in the Life project this year….last year my heart wasn’t really in it for some reason and I abandoned the project after a day or two.  It’s OK to drop projects and change gears, wasn’t working, move on.  This year, I have too many unfinished projects, too many things in the air and no sense of completion….perfect!  Let’s take on another project.  My goal this year…. write every day, take a few photos, post to my blog.  It’s Wednesday and I’m posting Monday so here goes 😉

MONDAY

****And I realized when I looked at the photos I’d taken, all 8 of them, that there were no people in them.  Was it because I’d decided late in the game to do witl and hadn’t “prepped”?  Or, was it because this is what a large part of my day looks like being the Domestic Goddess with two kids in school and a more than full time working hubby….that there just isn’t that many people around?   Think I need to think about this a little more.  A lot of isolation, not necessarily a great thing.

This week is the last week of summer vacation for us.  It is completely depressing, I am happy with the school they go to, but at this time of year I’m ready for them to have an extra week or two of summer as the other schools around us do.  It is especially bittersweet as they are going into HIGH SCHOOL next week (not sure why I have to capitalize that when I write it), I have been waffling between disbelief and excitement for them all month.

In the spirit of “last week before summer vacation” I made the girls get up at 9am even though we didn’t have to leave the house until almost 11.  Groan, moan and they’re up.  After being a slug for the greater part of the summer, I got up with Charlie a little after 6am and made him his tea to take with him to work.  I have to admit, I get waaaaay more done in a day when I am up at 6am vs. 9am.

The girls had soccer practice this morning so I picked up Kenzie & Peyson and dropped everyone at the field, then hightailed it to the Apple Store to pick up a new wireless router (ours was ooold as I realized) and then to Best Buy for network cable and other tech stuff all to be used as part of the upgrading the wi-fi signal project.  Just made it back to soccer in time to get everyone, drop everyone off, bring the girls home to get their bathing suits and some Elio’s pizza to take to Kenzie’s pool…pick up Lauren on the way over and drop everyone off to swim.  Lucky that Janice will bring everyone home.  I’m so so thankful to have a group of girlfriends who live nearby and who like to share in the kid-schlepping chores!

After the pool, the girls have to do their “concussion training” for their school soccer team, I get them the links to the site and they each curl up on their beds in the a/c  go through the course.

Also in homage to getting back to a schedule, I wanted to get back into the habit of “money monday”, doing the bills/paperwork/greasing the cogs that run this show.  I know if I do this every monday, it won’t take very long and I will have a far better grasp on money, projects, and to-do’s and won’t be wondering if I called the chimney guy or where the paper was with the deposit on it.

In the spirit of trying something new, I tried the “deposit by phone” app with our bank and snapped a photo of the check, entered some info and away it went!  Too bad I can’t get cash out of my phone, save me a trip to the cash machine.  I spent hours on this project but managed to get a lot of things cleared out, ticked off, paid and filed.

In an effort to clean out the fridge, I made grilled lamb tips from pache’s, a spinach pinwheel dish to use up the puff pastry and good old zucchini cakes from our frozen garden zucchini.  Round it out with sliced tomatoes from the garden and call it good!!

After dinner, Charlie worked on our taxes and the girls read their summer reading book “1984”.  They are under strict orders that they can’t go camping this weekend with their friend unless the reading and all the “entries” they have to do are completely done, printed out and in their backpacks ready to hand in on Monday!  Charlie gave me my own “homework” of things to work on to get our taxes in order, which I’ll work on this week.  I had some more paperwork/computer stuff to take care of before joining him for sliced plums.

We have been ending up the evenings in front of the TV usually watching sports or “Big Bang Theory” re-runs.    It is nice to come together at the end of the day and hang our for awhile.  Gwen went to bed early but Lily got some ice cream and hung out with us for awhile watching TV.  It’s still weird that they don’t go to bed at 8pm anymore, its fun to hang out but I sometimes miss grown-up evening time.  As we get closer to Monday, bedtimes will be dialed back toward 9.  This summer I’ve also been having Lily do the evening dog routine of pill/food/outside then put her to bed in her crate.  Shadow likes the routine and I like not forgetting to put her out until I’m over-ready to go to bed!  Books and crosswords for us then lights out, Charlie at around 11 and me around 11:40…need to dial back bedtime for ourselves as well!

To give you a little taste of what’s in the kit, I’ve worked up this two page layout using items exclusively from the kit.  The kit was perfect to pair with photos of my girls and their buddy excavating the backyard as a typical after school project!  So fun, brought back memories of my trying to dig to China !  Template: Get It Scrapped Template for Scrapbook Coach 19.

Afterschool Project Dig!

Afterschool Project Dig!

I haven’t done a two page layout in awhile, I love them because I can get lots of photos and journaling onto one layout.  This layout was part of the “Double Wide” class, the latest class offering at Masterful Scrapbooking Design.   I have been a member at MSD for several months now and I am really enjoying the class offerings and the community. Stop by and check them out.  If you’d like to get a taste of MSD for free, check out  Get it Scrapped, their companion website which features free classes, ideas and inspiration.

Thanks for stopping by… have a great rest of the weekend and make something!! And come back and tell me about it.
